About the Position: Operations Division consults with other elements in the Savannah District regarding navigation, dredging, navigation structures, operations and maintenance on locks and dams, maintenance of local flood control structures (Inspection of Completed Works), and the invasive species management program. The division provides guidance for developing designs, plans, and specifications for mechanical systems in support of the District's operations and maintenance program.

Duties

Reviews plans and specifications for upcoming projects. Performs Quality Assurance on assigned Contracts/Projects. Reviews technical data and reports for input in various construction systems and also approves pay estimates. Responsible for inspecting work to ensure contractors are adhering to command policy and Safety Regulations. Consults with contractors and in-house personnel on problems related to construction. Acts as technical advisor for assigned projects and resolves problems that arise between plans and specs. Investigates possible change orders and reports his findings to the Contracting Officers Representative (COR).

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) performing Quality Assurance on construction projects related to sitework, grading and/or marine environments, 2) inputting data into various required database systems, and 3)conducting technical reviews of plans and specifications, Quality Control reports, Quality Assurance reports, and Contractor Daily Reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). OR Education: Two full years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as engineering, construction, or industrial technology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. Add the two percentages.
