About the Position: Serves as the Regional Inland Navigation Design Production Center technical expert and advisor on data visualization, analysis, tracking and reporting for project and program delivery across the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Major Subordinate Command (MSC) area of responsibility (AOR). Serves as a regional subject matter expert in data analytics and visualization tools and methodologies in support of regional program management and business operations.
Duties
Performs critical analysis of data from agency enterprise program/project management and financial management automated information systems (AIS) to effectively evaluate data quality and report compliance in accordance with regional standards.
Technical authority and advisor on analytical, mathematical, or statistical theories, principles, concepts, methods, and techniques related to the application of concepts of operations research, mathematics, and statistics.
Develop automated reports and dashboards to track programmatic and operational metrics
Use qualitative and quantitative techniques for analyzing and measuring the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of program execution using data visualization and analytical applications.
Serves on national and regional data visualization development teams. Supports the overall implementation and successful operation of data visualization analytical tools (ex. BusinessObjects, Qlik Sense, Power Bi, Tableau, Smartsheet, etc.)

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent agrees to 25% TDY. Temporary duty away from the duty station location.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

YOU MUST MEET THE EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS IN THE EDUCATION SECTION AS WELL AS THE SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes advising on data visualization, analysis, tracking and reporting for project and program delivery across the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE); developing automated data visualization reports and interactive dashboards used to track and measure a wide range of data quality and project performance metrics; and providing leadership with critical information for making risk-informed decisions based on data analysis.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
Education
Statistician: bachelor's degree (or higher degree) which included 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
combination of education and experience which includes courses as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Appropriate experience includes a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance. Mathematical Statistician: bachelor's degree (or higher degree) which included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics. I meet the mathematics course requirement by having at least four of the following: differential calculus, integral calculus, advanced calculus, theory of equations, vector analysis, advanced algebra, linear algebra, mathematical logic, differential equations, or any other advanced course in mathematics for which one of these was a prerequisite. combination of education and experience which includes at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics and 6 hours in statistics, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education
Mathematician: bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in mathematics; or a degree with the equivalent of a major that included at least 24 semester hours in mathematics. My total course work includes differential and integral calculus and, in addition, four advanced mathematics courses requiring calculus or equivalent mathematics courses as a prerequisite. combination of education and experience which includes courses equivalent to a major in mathematics (including at least 24 semester hours in mathematics), as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Data Scientist: bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position.

combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.?
Operations Research: bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
Computer Scientist: bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in computer science or bachelor's degree (or higher degree) with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
