You will serve as an Engineering Equipment Operator in the Material Support Branch, Supply Management Department of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR SAN DIEGO.

Duties

You will operate construction equipment including excavators, graders/loaders, rollers, tractor/trailers, earth augers, bulldozers, mobile weight handling equipment, mobile cranes, etc. on/off station in all traffic, weather, and level/rough terrain. You will load and unload the vehicle by hand, sometimes with the help of others, assuring the vehicle is not overloaded You will perform required operator maintenance and maintains service records, trip tickets, and accident reports in case of accident. You will operate a variety of motor vehicles including military tactical vehicles, truck platforms, sedan, van, stake, dump, skid steer and refuse trucks. You will perform a variety of warehouse taskings including the movement of Civil Engineering Support Equipment between warehouse storage locations and the updating of manual and computerized storage records.

  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Forklift Operator License (FLO).
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a NAVFAC Construction Equipment Operators License to be qualified to operate various construction and weight handling equipment.
  • You "may" be coded as "key" and as such may be required be removed from their military recall status. A signed statement of understanding required.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform common tasks including having experience performing a majority of the following Engineering Equipment Operator duties: operated a variety of motor vehicles including platform, van, stake, dump, skid steer and refuse trucks; operated a variety of construction vehicles including excavators, bulldozers, graders/loaders, rollers, scrapers, tractor/trailer, earth augers, sweepers and operated wheel type tractors and attached or towed equipment; operated gasoline, propane, electric or diesel powered vehicles capable of carrying loads weighing up to and including four tons or more; operated equipment on flat or rolling terrain, refuse dump and/or construction sites with simple terrain; performed operator maintenance on vehicles operated such as monitoring fluid levels, replacing air filters and interior lights, checking tire pressure and hose connections, filling with fuels and washing vehicles; maintained service records, trip tickets and accident reports in case of accident; perform a variety of warehouse taskings, including the movement of Civil Engineering Support Equipment between warehousing locations My work is reviewed upon completion by a supervisor for compliance to specifications. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
