This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the PROFESSIONAL Work Category at the SENIOR Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA DISA - JOINT SERVICES PROVIDER.

Duties

Apply scientific discipline and professional engineering principles to computer based systems that require advanced research, design, development, and maintenance of computer equipment and interfaces (hardware, applications and support software). Apply mathematical modeling and simulation tools and techniques to plan and conduct test and evaluation programs, characterize systems support decisions involving requirements, evaluate design alternatives, or support operational preparation. Identifies/analyzes problems; weighs relevance and accuracy of information; generates and evaluates alternative solutions. Identify the causes of problems and chooses courses of action that balance the interests of the mission and stakeholders. Plans, develops, implements, and administers systems strategies for the publication, identification, analysis, storage, maintenance, integrity, retrieval and sharing of enterprise data using knowledge of computer hardware, software, and systems. Develop functional, physical, or prototype models and simulations for training, testing, analysis and evaluation; uses models to predict behavior, evaluate design alternatives, communicate concepts and analytical findings, and validate requirements.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Basic Requirements: In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements: Degree: professional engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: Professional registration Written Test Specified academic courses Related curriculum - With this criteria, applicants also need verification of employment from a supervisor stating you have performed professional engineering duties. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Applying scientific professional engineering principles to computer based systems, administering systems strategies for the publication of sharing enterprise data using knowledge of computer systems, and applying mathematical modeling and simulation techniques to conduct evaluation programs. Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume.
