Duties
You will serve as senior engineering technician for all Vertical Transportation Equipment (VTE), which includes any of the following: elevators, escalators, personal hoists, inclined lifts, automotive lifts, and similar systems.
You will performs VTE surveys, inspections, and certification at field sites to determine safe regulatory compliance then sign and post the Operating Certificate upon satisfactory completion of the evaluation/testing process.
You will consult with engineers, architects, and others in VTE design development to ensure all areas receive proper design consideration and the total project objectives and schedules are met.
You will prepare correspondence, technical reports, estimates, status and schedules as required to complete project assignments; and perform statistical and simulation analyses of data to make technical and business decisions.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applies engineering and/or architectural concepts, principles, and practices to provide input on the design, construction, and/or repair of vertical transportation equipment such as elevators, escalators, etc; 2) Maintains status and quality control of planned and completed inspections of vertical transportation equipment (i.e elevators, escalators, etc.) to ensure safe regulatory compliance; and 3) Utilizes software applications and/or databases (i.e. MAXIMO) to prepare inspection reports, correspondence, technical reports, estimates, status and/or schedules as required to complete project assignments of vertical transportation equipment (e.g., elevators and escalators, etc).

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in both an office setting and at work sites. Regular work may be inside or outside in which case prolonged exposure to the weather elements is possible. Work involves traveling to contractor work sites that have moderate risks and discomforts that may require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, carts, or machines and possible exposure to loud noises, irritant chemicals and explosive materials. Employees may be required to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), protective clothing and gear, such as hard hats, masks, coats, boots, goggles, gloves, fall protection, etc., and other specific gear and equipment that pertains to a specific job or job site.
