The primary purpose of this position TRAINING INSTRUCTOR NH-1712-02 is to serve as a Training Specialist (Instructor) performing certification, technical, hard-skill, Soft-skill, New Employee Orientation, and Supervisory training via classroom and virtual platforms.
Duties
Manages, develops, delivery's, and instructs a variety of technical trainings. Conducts classroom, laboratory, or field instruction of highly technical information for maintenance and maintenance systems functionality and navigational courses.
Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the organization, ensuring that manpower, personnel, force development/education and training related operations comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs.
Participates in special manpower, personnel, force development/education and training related operation projects and initiatives and performs special assignments.
Represents the organization with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships.
Maintains, updates, or develops training materials specific to assigned courses.

- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - The work is primarily sedentary. May require some walking, standing, bending, carrying and/or lifting of light items such as paper or books. No special physical demands are required to perform the work
- WORK ENVIRONMENT - The work is performed in a typical office setting, requiring the use of normal safety precautions necessary for an office environment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated
- This position is a Training Specialist Instructor required to provide training and support to multiple agencies on the installation.
- May be required to work on special projects as directed by the supervisor

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the generalized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions to include the Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) Training Instructor Series 1712.
GENERALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Have, or within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement will have, three years of progressively responsible general experience, one year of experience which is equivalent to Federal experience at the next lower grade (GS-04), level, pay band (NH-01), or equivalent (pay schedule, pay band, etc). Typically, we would find this experience in work within this field that is closely related. General Experience is described as experience demonstrating the ability to: Teach or instruct in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s). Supervise or administer a training program. Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results. Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. Possess a practical knowledge of the subject area being taught and a practical knowledge of the methods and techniques of instruction

EDUCATION: Successful completion of a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Equivalent combinations of successful completion of a post-high school education and experience directly related to the work of the position as outlined above that meets the requirements of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques for the identification, consideration, and resolution of issues or problems concerning efficiency and effectiveness of the program and/or strategic sourcing.
Knowledge of overall missions, functions, and organization of the agency or component. Ability to apply the knowledge to evaluate current organizational strategies and performance.
Knowledge of organizational concepts, principles, and practices as related to the requirements for performance-based logistics, acquisition., supply maintenance, procurement procedures, manufacturing, strategic sourcing, and other support areas.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with accuracy, and maintain good working relations with all individuals and organizations.
Ability to work with, lead, and manage various groups or individuals to resolve difficult problems/situations as related to organizational issues. Ability to understand and deploy lean concepts in problem resolution.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
