This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Performs activities of material movement within the Machine shop.

Duties

Performs routing and expediting activities for in-process material movement within the tooling fabrication and metal parts production area of the Machine shop. Coordinates the movement of in-process material by routing and expediting parts. Maintains documentation for storing material until ready for use. Utilizes a practical knowledge of computer operations, and a working knowledge of the methods used in processing materials in and out of Logistics Modernization Program (LMP) to ensure an effective operation. Maintains total inventory documentation by tracking and storing all processed materials. When routing documents are missing, or item identity is questionable, makes positive identification by referring to parts manuals, matching parts with like parts, referring to finished parts list, or blueprints Maintains accountability for routing and expediting parts. Issue/honor move requests utilizing LMP to verify the information is accurate and counts are correct. Investigates discrepancies by researching records to determine resolution. Provides advice to planner estimator/shop planner, supervisor, and coworkers on various issues.

Requirements

  • Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to5% of the time.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a forklift license.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • Must possess and maintain installation driving privileges.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Expediter without more than normal supervision. Applicants must meet the screen out element to be considered further. The work of the position includes: 1) Routing, tracking, and expediting parts using an automated system; 2) Inspecting and identify parts for processing and completion; and 3) Maintaining accountability for all parts in inventory - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Physical Effort: Work involves prolonged standing and walking while troubleshooting problems. Occasionally handles weights up to 50 pounds. Material handling devices and assistance of other workers are available for handling heavy items. Heavy exertion is frequent. Constant kneeling, crouching, stooping, and walking is required. Working Conditions: Work is performed in both a well-lighted and ventilated production shop area with equal time spent in outdoor conditions while receiving and issuing items. Subject to exposure to shop noise, dirt and fumes, and possible cuts, scrapes and bruises when handling material.
