The primary purpose of this position, MUNITIONS MAINTENANCE MECHANIC TRAINING LEADER, WL-6501-11, is to ensure unit master training plan is accomplished for assigned personnel; prepare and maintain munitions and explosive items for use on Test aircraft. Duty Title: Munitions Maintenance Mechanic Training Leader

Duties

Lead and work with a team of civilian and military employees to provide munitions assembly and maintenance actions required to support flight operations. Lead and work with a team of civilian and military employees to provide munitions serviceability inspection required to maintain the munitions stockpile in a serviceable condition. Lead and work with a team of civilian and military employees to provide safe and timely delivery of conventional and precision-guided munitions and associated components to aircraft in support of Test Operations. Train and oversee workers in the performance of both precision guided and non guided conventional weapons inspection, maintenance and assembly. Train personnel to conduct serviceability inspections to include but not limited to receiving, periodic, shipping, returned munitions and special inspections on conventional munitions assets.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-6500 Ammunition, Explosive, And Toxic Materials Work Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is: Ability To Lead Or Supervise. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (other than blueprints) Knowledge of Materials Dexterity and Safety PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Hours of pushing are 8 hours/week. Reaching above shoulder. Hours of walking are 3 hours/day. Hours of standing are 7 hours/day. Hours of kneeling are 4 hours/week. Hours of repeated bending are 8 hours/week. Operation of truck, tractor, or motor vehicle. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Depth perception. Ability to distinguish basic colors. Ability to distinguish shades of color. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is usually performed in an environmentally controlled area with exposure to drafts, noise, fumes, dirt, dust and grease. The employee will be required to frequent extreme temperatures outside numerous times a day. The employee is subject to exposure to high explosives, high-pressure pneumatic systems, severe heat, chemical irritations, shocks, bruises, cuts and strains. Safety equipment includes safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, reflective belt and protective apron. LAUTENBERG AMENDMENT: This position may require: use firearms or ammunition; sell or dispose of firearms or ammunition; receive, possess, ship or transport firearms; or other duties, activities or responsibilities covered by the Gun Control Act. Selectee must have no convictions of a crime of domestic violence.
