You will serve as a Security Specialist responsible for assisting with the implementation of the Personnel Security Program and Information Security Program. With guidance, you will carry out all assignments necessary to implement security throughout the activity to meet Department of Navy and national security program requirements. This position is located in the Security and Law Enforcement Department of OFFICE OF NAVAL INTELLIGENCE in Suitland, Maryland.
Duties
You will assist in the administration of the security standards and execution of security policies and requirements for the Security Program within the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) enterprise.
You will perform basic tasks regarding security functions involving the implementation and execution of security programs.
You will participate in Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) indoctrinations and education briefings.
You will participate in tasks involved in the development, evaluation, and implementation of information security programs.
You will participate in tasks relative to an assigned area in the security technology fields of intrusion detection systems, access control systems, sound masking systems and external and internal closed circuit television.
Requirements

- You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of an offer or removal. Indicate the level and date of your clearance in your resume.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
- This position requires a periodic polygraph examination.
- This position may require a two-year DCIPS trial period requirement.
- You must obtain Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Program Certification at the Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPCC) within 24 months of selection.
- Some travel required.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Collect, interpret, and integrate security data from multiple sources to assess the relevance and significance of new security developments;
Identify security gaps, specify requirements to fill gaps, and evaluate the data through security reviews and inspections;
Assist in evaluating security protection systems to ensure information, facilities, and personnel are protected against possible compromise or theft.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
LL.B. or J.D., if related.
