You will serve as a SUPERVISORY QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING) in the QUALITY ASSURANCE DEPARTMENT of SUPERVISOR OF SHIPBUILDING GROTON.

Duties

You will assign audits, procedure reviews, procedure evaluations, and surveillance of processes and programs. You will provide the technical advice and guidance necessary to ensure subordinates understand the basic assignment objectives. You will establish priorities and schedules for accomplishing tasks and achieving goals within the Division. You will identify training needs of subordinates in quality assurance, shipbuilding technologies, and special qualification or certification areas such as non-destructive testing. You will interact with senior Department Management and Leadership, Command Department Heads, the Contractor's organization, and external activities to ensure necessary coordination of quality program efforts. You will develop, integrate, and implement solutions to diverse, highly complex problems across multiple areas and disciplines. You will conduct comprehensive studies and analysis of utilization of resources and personnel management problem areas and provide the Quality Assurance Director/Deputy Quality Assurance Director with recommended solutions to those problems. You will assume an active role in matters pertaining to the techniques of handling quality control related to the construction, conversion and repair contract administration.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band NH-02 (or GS-11 equivalent) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector leading quality assurance inspections or contractor surveillance to ensure compliance with shipbuilding requirements.
