You will serve as a CORRECTIONAL PROGRAM SPECIALIST in the Corrections and Programs Office of NAVY PERSONNEL COMMAND.

Duties

You will organize American Correctional Association (ACA) standards folders and projects in support of standards compliance. You will perform administrative work to demonstrate Navy Corrections agency-level compliance with Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards established by the Department of Justice (DOJ). You will guide military enlisted staff in the application, administration, and delivery of Basic, Advanced, and Armed Prisoner Escort training requirements. You will support inspections at Navy shore military correctional facilities and afloat brigs to ensure facility operations and programs meet compliance with applicable laws, agency policy, and national accreditation standards. You will oversee tracking of all operational readiness inspection audits and implementation status reports for monitoring and closure actions. You will administer DTS travel for office line of accounting with review of each authorization and voucher.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1)Tracking operational readiness inspection audits and implementation status reports for monitoring and closure actions; 2) Performing administrative work to demonstrate Navy Corrections agency-level compliance with Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards established by the Department of Justice (DOJ); 3) Supporting inspections of shore military correctional facilities and afloat brigs to ensure facility operations meet compliance with applicable laws; 4) Procuring consumable and non-consumable office supplies, furniture and services; 5) Administering office line of accounting and reviewing vouchers for travel. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree with a major study in correctional administration, criminology, psychology, social work, sociology, or other fields related to the position OR
successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree with a major study in correctional administration, criminology, psychology, social work, sociology, or other fields related to the position OR
