Do you have experience working with water treatment systems and the associated analysis and maintenance of related utility systems? If so, please consider joining the Office of the Research Facilities, Division of Technical Resources! As an Engineering Technician (Chemical), you will provide support for the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System, utility metering, and utility management functions to include a utilities water treatment program.

Duties

As an Engineering Technician (Chemical), you will Collect samples from designated sample points and perform analysis in accordance with appropriate testing methods. Perform standard computations and makes minor adjustments as required, to ensure system is operating within designated parameters. Evaluate and interpret data relating to key performance indicators to identify and correct minor deficiencies. Inspect chemicals, materials, and equipment delivered to ensure that they meet specifications. Assist in conducting surveys and inspect facilities to evaluate use patterns and identify maintenance or restoration requirements. Prepare and present inspection summaries and narrative assessments requiring a variety of projection techniques to portray unusual facility conditions.

Qualifications

To qualify for an Engineering Technician (Chemical) at GS-0802-07 level, you must meet one of the following qualification requirements: A. Have completed one full year of graduate level education in a field of study directly related to the duties of this position. OR B. You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: collecting water test samples for analysis by senior facilities operations staff; participating in utilities inspection activities for a facilities maintenance and operation program; ensuring that chemicals, materials, and equipment meet specifications for a facilities operation program; and recording events and conditions of facilities operations in a maintenance log. OR C. Have a combination of education as described in B and specialized experience as described in A that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. To qualify for an Engineering Technician (Chemical) at GS-0802-08 level, you must meet one of the following qualification requirements: A. Have completed two (2) full years of graduate education leading to a master's degree in a field of study directly related to the duties of this position. OR B. You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: performing tests on water samples to ensure proper operating parameters of a water treatment system; inspecting water treatment facilities equipment to ensure reliability and functionality; drafting preliminary utilities test summary reports for senior-level staff evaluation; scheduling water utilities system maintenance operations. OR C. Have a combination of education as described in B and specialized experience as described in A that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
