Duties

You will operate electronic tactical police communications equipment, including mobile data terminals to receive dispatches, respond to calls and complete official reports. You will apprehend personnel, both combative and non-combative members of the public. You will respond to and investigate complaints while interpreting and enforcing state and federal laws. You will perform traffic law enforcement using specialized equipment such as radar, breathalyzer, and must be qualified/certified in these specialized areas and on necessary equipment.

Requirements

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CPR certification.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing a full range of duties and responsibilities in preventing terrorist activities, resolving offenses, conducting preliminary and/or ongoing investigations of incidents ranging from simple rule violations to felony and capital crimes; 2) Using nonlethal weapons and subduing a suspect in accordance with "use of force continuum" guidance; 3) Demonstrating techniques and procedures used to collect, protect, and process evidence from a crime scene, to include maintaining chain of custody for evidentiary purposes; 4) Documenting law enforcement and security events and issuances of citations; and 5) Mirandizing suspects and testifying in court as it pertains to enforcing regulations.
