This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, US Coast Guard, Industrial Department, Structural Group in Baltimore, MD.
Duties
You will be directly or through a leader supervising a group of employees who perform all kinds of trade tasks involved in the construction, repairing or renovating a wide variety of types and sizes of marine craft and vessels and in connection with miscellaneous manufacturing and (on occasion), performing some facility type of work in yard buildings.Being a civilian working for the Coast Guard makes you a valuable team member. - U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
- May be required to work rotating shifts.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Must submit a copy of most recent SF-50, Notice of Personnel Action
- May be required to serve a 1-year supervisory probationary period
Qualifications
Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired.Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:1. Ability to lead or supervise (SCREENOUT)2. Knowledge of equipment, structure, materials, etc. (includes constructing, repair, and forging)3. Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading)4. Layout and pattern development (includes geometric projection and triangulation)5. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, etc., for metal work6. Dexterity (assembly, disassembly, reassembly, etc.)
