This PHYSICIAN (AEROSPACE MEDICINE) is part of the CA 144 FW.
This position is concurrently announced with VA 24-452 PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT and VA 24-456 NURSING (PRACTITIONER). Only one of the announced positions will be filled.
Duties
THIS IS A T5 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION
The primary purpose of the PHYSICIAN (AEROSPACE MEDICINE), GP-0602-14, is to provide a fulltime, residency trained, experienced Physician to plan, schedule, execute, manage, and administer installation-wide medical management including, aerospace and operational disposition and to provide critical clinical judgment for medical case management to promote and maintain the health and well-being of assigned Air National Guard (ANG) personnel.
Qualifications
PHYSICIAN (AEROSPACE MEDICINE), GP-0602-14: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-13 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by performing duties such as: Provides expert medical advice/guidance for safety investigations and compiles a clinically relevant medical summary and/or relevant medical records for the safety investigation officer; Coordinates with inter-disciplinary teams to gather facts and uses effective analytical and evaluative methods to prepare complex healthcare recommendations; Provides expert clinical decision making and medical dispositions on a wide range of illnesses and injuries relating to Wing fitness questionnaires; duty limiting condition reports; Provides policy guidance and complex medical interpretations to senior management officials to ensure compliance with medical aspects for the worldwide deployability of assigned ANG personnel; Utilizes extensive medical knowledge to ensure compliance with and preparation for readiness of unit compliance inspections, evaluations, audits, and staff assistance visits including unit effectiveness inspections.

Part-time or unpaid experience: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid work on the same basis as for paid experience. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. To receive credit for such experience you must indicate clearly the nature of the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the number of hours per week spent in such employment.

Education
Must have a Degree in a Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
OR
Must have a Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
Must have had at least 4 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training (Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least 4 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., internships or residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training).
