You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES division of NAVAL AIR STATION.

Duties

You will act on policies and procedures to accomplish program objectives. You will serve as the Senior Fire Officer on scene of all responding emergencies. You will oversee all aspects of the Fire Prevention Division of Fire and Emergency Services at the installation level. You will provide input to fiscal plans and annual operations budget based on known and projected requirements.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Implementing and supervising the functions of an effective fire prevention program through inspections, training, and enforcement of fire regulations; 2) Directing/deploying firefighting personnel and equipment during emergencies and non-emergency situations; and 3) Applying and communicating management objectives to subordinates for employees to include performance objectives, appraisals, and command mission; and 4) Directing attack for the effective control and extinguishment of fires, managing hazardous materials and special operations emergencies, and preserving the mission of the Installation and Region. NOTE: This information must be supported in your resume to be considered for the position. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I/II, Hazmat Technician, Hazmat Incident Commander, Airport Firefighter, D/O pumper, D/O ARFF, D/O Aerial, Fire Instructor II, Fire Inspector II, Fire Officer III, Incident Safety Officer, and ICS 300/400, Also requires National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT).
