You will serve as a COMBINED TRADES SUPERVISOR 1 in the FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHEAST, MRO PRODUCTION DEPT of FLTREADCEN SOUTHEAST.

Duties

You will determine maintenance manpower, tool, and material requirements for workload assignments. You will Interpret blueprints and sketches to plan material, equipment, and labor needed to accomplish maintenance and operation tasks. You will Implement ways to eliminate or reduce bottlenecks and barriers to maintenance and production. You will complete scheduled maintenance work within established time frames and guidelines.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Incumbent may be required to wear a respirator.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position requires near vision correctable at 14' to Jaeger 2. Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE 1) Performing at the Journeyman-level in one of the following trades: Sandblaster, Painter, Equipment cleaner, Shop Peening Machine Operator and performing Aircraft Surface Treatment in order to carry out supervisory duties; 2) Assigning work to subordinates to complete combined trade duties; 3) Independently interpreting blueprints and prepare layouts and sketches to achieve desired results; 4) Establishing deadlines for complex work schedules, methods, and policies for the department; 5) Independently resolving combing trade problems and take action to overcome bottlenecks, equipment breakdowns, material shortages, and other causes of delays and inefficiencies; and 6) Training subordinates in proper work methods, use of equipment; and safe practices for the department.
