Duties

You will operate heavy equipment to excavate, backfill, grade, or level earth to rough specifications. You will complete engineering or construction equipment operations within specified time frames to meet customer requirements. You will inspect equipment for signs of wear or damage to maintain safe operating condition. Analyze the nature of soil and terrain to determine correct approach for equipment being driven.

• You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Class A Commercial Drivers’ License and the ability to obtain N (Tank), P (Passenger), and T (Trailer) endorsements.
• You may be required to obtain and maintain a valid Construction and Weight Handling Equipment Operator Certification.
• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision performing the following duties: 1) Interpreting instructions and specifications in relation to Mobile heavy equipment operations to safely operate equipment where the work is close to buildings, railroad tracks, power poles, utility lines, trees, drop-offs, rocks and/or other obstructions; 2) Performing minor maintenance on equipment while adhering to work practices of keeping things neat, clean, and in order; AND 3) Evaluating types of soils, terrain features and selecting the appropriate type equipment, attachments and/or accessories and configuration to execute assigned work.
