You will serve as a TRAINING INSTRUCTOR (MACHINIST) for shop 31 in the Production Resources Department (Code 900) of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will conduct need assessments and task analyses to determine learning objectives. You will prepare lesson plans and training materials based on course objectives. You will be responsible for improving and modifying the training for assigned courses. You will conduct training and assess progress of students in meeting desired objectives, including advising and assisting them to improve their performance. You will prepare and maintain training records, progress reports, qualifications and other documentation as required to certify worker qualifications for audit and historical purposes. You will develop and administer written and practical examinations. You will develop the competencies of others to perform and contribute to the organization. You will identify and deploy training program delivery strategies and methodologies. You will continually evaluate and improve the effectiveness of your assigned training program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

For the GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector preparing lesson plans and providing classroom instruction in the practical application of trades theories, practices and technical requirements. Completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree (Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work).
