The Executive Assistant position is located within the Office of the Deputy Inspector General for Audit, in the Readiness and Global Operations Directorate. The Executive Assistant serves as an advisor to Directorate leadership overseeing the planning, coordinating, and execution of internal and external issues, projects, and assignments of special interest or priority to the Directorate.

Duties

Coordinates and responds to Directorate and Division level issues and taskers to ensure timely receipt of information to meet Agency, Audit, or Directorate suspense dates. Represents the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) and Deputy as assigned and accomplishes objectives in consonance with the AIG and Deputy’s overall views. Ensures that the AIG and Deputy are aware of issues warranting their attention. Oversees the development of briefing materials and analyzes products for accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness of presentation for the target audience. Coordinates review of Directorate written products with the Audit and IG front Offices as well as the support division to execute and ensure report issuance in accordance with OIG and Audit requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Position has been designated as Non-Critical Sensitive. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Secret Level security clearance.

  • You may be required to complete a financial disclosure (OGE-450).
  • Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.
  • Current DoD civilian employees are not required to submit to drug testing if moving from one Testing Designated Position (TDP) to another with no break in service, unless deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis.
  • The incumbent must adhere to the DoD Standards of Conduct.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic AND Minimum Qualification requirements as noted below. Basic Qualifications for the 0511 Series: Degree: auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting. or Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following: A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours. Related fields that also may qualify: Business Management Criminal Justice General Business Homeland Security Information Security Information Technology International Business International Justice International Relations Investigative Reporting Journalism Management Management Operations Mathematics Organizational Management Public Policy Political Science Resource Management Any Major that includes 15hrs in accounting AND Time in Grade: You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-13 level in the Federal service or at an equivalent level. Specialized experience is defined as: 1. Experience in prioritizing tasks informing others of milestones, monitoring the status of projects, and adhering to deadlines. 2. Experience communicating effectively, both orally and in writing. 3. Experience in analyzing information, drawing conclusions, and recommending corrective action as required. 4. Experience ensuring quality standards are met as well as providing advice on work methods, practices, procedures. 5. Experience in maintaining successful working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You must meet the minimum qualification requirements as stated in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions: Auditing Series 0511 (opm.gov) Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social) is qualifying. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience. Qualification and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Applicants who have held a non-temporary General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the time-in-grade restriction. Graduate Education: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
