This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serves as Engineering Technician accomplishing a full range of technical activities.
Duties
Conducts feasibility studies to determine if government property is properly maintained and used in accordance with current real property Category Codes (CATCODE).
Interprets shop drawings, as-builts, blueprints and diagrams as needed to perform assessments/inspections.
Interprets, modifies, and adapts standards and guides; develops plans and specifications for process changes; prepares estimates of materials and costs.
Collects sufficient assessment data to accurately reflect facility and infrastructure conditions and enters all data into the Builder Sustainment Management System (SMS) or Installation Status Report (ISR) system.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes: Conducting studies to determine if government property is properly maintained and used in accordance with current real property Category Codes (CATCODE); interpreting shop drawings, as-builts, blueprints and diagrams; collecting assessment data to accurately reflect facility and infrastructure conditions; entering data into the Builder Sustainment Management System (SMS) or Installation Status Report (ISR) system.
