Duties

Functions as an assistant to Information Protection (IP) programs that include personnel, industrial, information, operations, and physical security programs. Applies security knowledge to effectively perform access control for the Sensors Directorate Complex and provides a full range of moderately complex security assistant support to the IP Branch. Applies security guidance/policy, processes, and procedures to resolve moderately complex access/visitor control and information protections program matters. Communicates security-related information/issues with IP program managers and RYS division leadership and develops written communication with minimal supervisory review and revision. Regularly, assist information protection managers regarding security issues/matters.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade DU-1/GS-4, or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience may include performing access control, plan and carry out work in accordance with security guidance, communicate information to upper management, lead or mentors other employees, assist in responding to visitor control and information matters. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. OR EDUCATION: 4 years above high school. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Problem Solving Communication Business Management Teamwork and Leadership PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
