This position is located in the Social Services Department within the Pine Ridge Service Unit in Pine Ridge, SD. The incumbent is responsible for assessing, planning, organizing, directing, and administering the Social Services Department. The position works in a regularly assigned, rotation or call back basis to provide continuity of social services during evenings, nights, holidays and weekends. Incumbent provides 24 hour on-call services. Reports to the Clinical Services Administrator.
Duties
Responsible for program management duties which includes budget management, development of position descriptions, supervising staff and assigning work for the department.
Provides direct and indirect patient care services that addresses the overall psychosocial needs of the patient, family, community and Service Unit programs.
Provides mental health consultation and training services to staff, various community and tribal groups, agencies such as schools, law enforcement, courts and substance abuse programs, child protection agencies.
Ensures staff assist with coordination of patient care through participation and collaboration with community and tribal programs.
Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Degree: A master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Assisting patients and their families in utilizing available community, state, and federal resources for the purpose of improving their social, physical and psychological health; reporting on patient who are involuntarily committed; serving as liaison between patient, physician/clinic, or other members of the team including community, state, and federal agencies; completing monthly statistical and narrative reports on all services provided; provide individual and family therapy to out-patients.
Selective Placement Factor:
Must possess a current, unrestricted U.S. State Independent Social Worker License as either a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or a Certified Independent Social Worker (CISW).
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
