This vacancy is for a Management and Program Assistant (OA) position in Trans. & Customer Services Branch located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line - Suitland Station.
Duties
Serves as an assistant to librarian, providing guidance and assistance to users and a variety of services that require searching readily accessible sources of information.
Coordinates the operation of the circulation desk, including registration of borrowers for library and database accounts; charging and discharging library materials; sending overdue notices; and providing reserved books.
Assists senior librarians in performing planning, marketing, and outreach activities.
Multi-tasks among different areas providing office coverage to include opening and closing office.

Qualifications
This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Management and Program Assistant (OA), 0344-7, FPL GS-7, positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
Specialized Experience for GS-07, you must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: assisting senior librarians with providing reference assistance, reader's advisory and information about relevant library resources to a variety of staff and stakeholders; guiding customers in the use of on-line catalog, reference, and circulation collections; utilizing various research databases and library systems; and assisting senior librarians with performing marketing and outreach activities.
Education: There is no educational substitution at this grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.
