The primary purpose of this position is: to serve in a civilian position, in conjunction with the Production Superintendent (Pro Super), to assign priorities to aircraft production efforts, to direct action to resolve resource shortages, to maintain liaison among aircraft maintenance management, to implement standard and emergency checklists, and to provide training to active and reserve personnel in the accomplishment of tasks.

Duties

Provides both present and projected status information to prescribed managerial personnel. Notes projected completion date, studies actual aircraft status and informs higher levels within chain of command when aircraft is to be mission ready. Through use of radio, telephone, intercom, e-mail, personal contact with production supervisors, technicians, review of work documents and statistical listings, determines status of aircraft. As daily events occur, maintains MIS data integrity regarding maintenance flying schedule requirements. Accomplishes aircraft debriefing to ensure malfunctions identified by aircrews are properly reported and documented; Maintains liaison with the Maintenance Coordinating Function (MCF) of the Command Post.

  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-08, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes working with recurring manufacture, overhaul, or repair of products or projects using multiple-process production methods and procedures to develop plans and information necessary for the control of complex products such as airframes of fixed and rotary wing aircraft or a variety of complex and long-term facility repair and construction projects; Using product and manufacturing terminology, data, and standards, and determining how to relate them to new projects; Observing and analyzing production operations to determine if schedules are being followed, if they can be improved and determining the causes of production delays. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of and ability to interpret military aircraft and manufacturing terminology, technical orders, data, standards and instructions, production/technical processes and material posture to relate them properly to the particular control projects assigned in preparing production plans and schedules and in maintaining effective follow-up. 2. Knowledge of aerospace systems, subsystems, components, and associated inspections, repair, modification, and supply processes. 3. Knowledge of and skill in the use of automated maintenance information systems (MIS) and aircraft maintenance documentation processes to collect, compile, and correlate production data from a variety of sources and use that data to determine compliance status of scheduled maintenance, inspection, and modification actions. 4. Skill in effective written and oral communication. 5. Ability to correlate and analyze a variety of routine production data, technical manuals, and directives to determine applicability. 6. Ability to plan, schedule, and take corrective action to meet emergency and regular work load requirements. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
