You will serve as an Equipment Facilities and Services Specialist in the Advanced Measurement and Data Systems Branch in support of the Measurement Systems Laboratory, an organizational element of the Research Directorate at NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC).
Duties
Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
Provide facility support essential to the continuous operations of equipment and facilities to NASA mission activities.
Maintain awareness of the activities to be conducted throughout the facility and anticipates equipment, facilities, and services that will be required and that they are in a state of readiness.
Responsible for safe and continuous operations of assigned equipment and facilities.
Support the planning, management and oversight of projects for the interior construction, renovation, and repair of sites/facilities for NASA.
Determine appropriate means to execute maintenance, repair and/or upgrade projects.
Research and analyze long-range needs and problems for equipment and facilities programs and operations.
Coordinate construction and rehabilitation projects for equipment and facilities, including those that may be required on short notice.
Support the analysis and development of new repair and modification techniques, criteria, and information required for changes in programs, technological developments, and events that have conflicting requirements.
Support the formulation of safety plans to include fire evacuation, manufacturing/fabrication operations, and maintains surveillance of office areas for hazardous conditions.

Requirements
- Current Federal employees must meet qualifications, time in grade, and 90 days after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-11, you must have:
a) One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level
Assisting with repairs or modifications for research facilities;
Assisting with the maintenance of records of equipment or activities being conducted throughout the facility;
Assisting with the implementation of safety plans.
OR
b) Completed all requirements for a doctoral degree (i.e., Ph.D. or equivalent) in an appropriate field
OR
c) Completed 3 full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree in an appropriate field
OR
d) LL.M., if related
OR
e) Have an equivalent combination of experience and graduate study as discussed in a), b), c) and d) above
To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level:
Assisting with repairs or modifications for research facilities;
Maintaining records of equipment or activities being conducted throughout the facility;
Supporting the implementation of safety plans.
To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:
Supporting equipment and facility upgrades and maintenance by providing resource requirements;
Supporting the analysis and development of new repair and modification techniques for research facilities;
Implementing safety plans to include fire evacuation, manufacturing/fabrication operations, and maintains surveillance of office areas for hazardous conditions.
