About the Position: You are responsible for the development and implementation of complex natural resource management and protection programs. You will develop planning documents, scopes of work, budgets and schedules in support of natural and cultural resources management; and implement a management program including environmental stewardship, protection of endangered flora and fauna, resolution of encroachments on public lands, soil conservation, forestry, recreation, and water quality.

Duties

You will serve on teams to coordinate environmental planning of small projects. Prepare technical reports and land management plans. Ensure natural, ecological, cultural and biological conditions are protected as project work is carried out. Develop scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for natural resource management projects. Develop recommendations to resolve public land encroachment. Identify restoration opportunities or projects that align with Corps mission areas. Responsible for the development and implementation of a variety of complex natural resource management and protection programs Prepare reports, plans, presentations, and strategic documents, working collaboratively with District and Project elements in developing documents.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. -OR- B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Minimum Qualifications: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience with planning, administering, and managing natural resources management programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). -OR- Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
