Duties
Responsible for supervising and instructing outdoor recreation programs to military families and personnel: fishing, kayaking, trail biking, paddleboard, rock climbing, camping, archery, etc.Ensures all outdoor safety rules are observed by participants, and utilizes a good knowledge of all aspects of outdoor recreational safety.Leads experiential recreation programs in outdoor environments, including natural wooded areas and open water. Observes participants and ensures all are accounted for at all times.Prepares materials for presentation and instruction.When necessary, renders emergency first aid until qualified medical assistance arrives. Completes appropriate accident reports and other required reports.Assists in planning programs from current trends for military families and personnel and development of Standard Operating Procedures.Registers patrons and collects usage fees as required.Operates government vehicles weighing up to 7,000 pounds, and towing various size trailers up to 6,000 pounds, upwards of 30+ feet, while maintaining proper safety and secure connection of trailer, hitch, lights, etc. at all times.This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45 lbs independently and objects over 45 lbs with assistance.Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Must have one year of related experience in a recreational field.Dexterity to handle a participant in distress or injured in an outdoor environment.Understanding of and ability to enforce rigid safety regulations to ensure maximum protection of participants.Must be able to obtain and maintain Archery Instructor Certification within six months of employment.Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR or equivalent, and Standard First Aid or equivalent within six months of hire. Ability to communicate effectively with military personnel of all ranks and family members.Skill to demonstrate activities and use of related program equipment.Basic computer skills.Must possess and maintain a valid state driver¿s license. May be required to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries and State Criminal History Repository Check (CNACI) background checks which are required for positions that involve working with children under 18 years of age.
