This National Guard position is for a EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST, Position Description Number D2225P01 and is part of the 109TH AW, National Guard.

Duties
As a Emergency Management Specialist, GS-0089-11, you will develop, review, coordinate and execute the wing's Emergency Management (EM) program plan in support of DOD, Joint Service, Air Force, MAJCOM, ANG, Numbered Air Force, federal, state, and county plans in the area(s) of Prevention, Protection, Mitigation, Response, and Recovery. The position develops, manages and executes the wing EM programs, ensuring effective prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery operations to allow continued mission capability at the wing level.
Requirements

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- Positions covered by this PD must be reviewed for proper "Testing Designated Position (TDP)" coding to comply with the AF Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program (AFI 44-107).
- Position is required to maintain classified documents; therefore, requires a security clearance within one year of appointment.
- Must have successfully completed, or be able to complete within six (6) months of appointment to position, the Air Force Emergency Management Course.
- May be required to be certified on and wear emergency protective equipment IAW DOD guidance.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- May be required to work outside normal duty hours.
Qualifications
Military Grades: Enlisted
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1 year equivalent to at least next lower grade level. Experience involving applying principles, concepts, and methods of emergency management operations sufficient to design projects having applicable precedents where well-established occupational methods, techniques, processes and precedents can be utilized. Knowledge of and skill in applying a comprehensive range of principles, concepts and practices relating to emergency management operations in carrying out the full scope of emergency management operations for the ANG Aviation Wing and supported units.
Education
College academic courses or technical school education in business management, speech, English grammar, algebra, biology, physics, chemistry, and computer operations.
