This position is located in the Division of Operating Reactor Safety, Reactor Projects Branch C.The supervisor is Michael Hay.This position is Non-Bargaining Unit.This position IS subject to Confidential Financial Disclosure reporting requirements.This position IS subject to security ownership restriction reporting requirements.
Selectee must successfully complete a two-year supervisory trial period, if not previously completed.

Duties
As a Projects Branch Chief in DORS, you will manage a program for the routine and reactive inspections at assigned nuclear power plant facilities. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:1. Conducts briefings for NRC management to provide detailed information concerning activities, occurrences, and events of significance to the NRC.2.Serves as a principal point of contact for the Regional Duty Officer, on routine and urgent matters related to assigned facilities.3. Reviews proposed notices of enforcement discretion and enforcement action for appropriate regulatory content and technical adequacy, reviews enforcement panel briefing materials, enforcement conference pre-briefing packages. Leads panels and briefings and participates in conferences.4. Manages the qualification and on-going development of assigned staff. Provides training, developmental, and rotational opportunities for staff.5. Participates in meetings with the ACRS, NRR, and others, as requested, to discuss the results of inspections conducted by the Branch staff.6. Participates in the development and oversees the implementation of policies, plans, goals, and procedures of the NRC, the Regional Office and the Division within the branch consisting of a staff of approximately 12 resident and regionally based professional personnel with diverse technical backgrounds.

Qualifications
In addition to the basic education requirements, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as experience that demonstrates the potential to provide effective leadership and to assure organizational effectiveness in the areas of work processes and resource and equipment utilization, as well as a thorough knowledge of facility management, engineering methods, techniques and practices associated with reactor testing, maintenance, engineering, and operational programs.

Education
Candidates must possess a bachelor's or higher degree in professional engineering or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience demonstrating a thorough knowledge of principles, theories, and practices in the field of engineering.
