About the Position: Work under the general supervision of the Director, Support Division (SD), US Army Health Facility Planning Agency, Medical Command (MEDCOM) at the Army Office of the Surgeon General (OTSG) Falls Church, VA. Serve as a Medical Equipment Specialist responsible for supporting, planning, programming all medical equipment for healthcare and medical readiness facility mission support and medical operations requirements across the continuum of operations.

Duties

Develop appropriate equipment technology requirements across the planning, programming, design, and construction continuum to support a healthcare business plan. Manage medical readiness spaces and medical equipment systems critical to providing patient care in healthcare readiness facilities Attend healthcare facility planning and design meetings at the local site. Resolve challenging policy issues while achieving project goals and parameters. Understanding of space and equipment layout configurations for utilizing automated and non-automated design principles. Serve as a Medical Equipment Specialist to support the design and initial outfitting for all medical equipment across the continuum of operations. Technical expertise of biomedical equipment requirements, operations, and practices applicable to healthcare facilities worldwide.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be a graduate of the Department of Defense Biomedical Equipment Technician Course or possess similar training and certifications such as those below:
  • College of Biomedical Equipment Technology (CBET), National Institute for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ), or similar certification
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) accounts for approximately 25% of work-related to this job.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Analyzing medical logistic problems to determine root causes or recommend corrective action; 2) Interpreting policy and technical guidance to make decisions; AND 3) Analyzing contract specifications to determine if equipment meets requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
