You will serve as a PRODUCTION CONTROLLER (SHIPS) in the Production Resources Department, Nuclear Production Manager, Code 229 of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will be assigned to aircraft carrier or submarine repair projects and assist in managing and executing the work packaging function in accordance with the Nuclear Work Packaging and Process Guide. You will assist in developing work packaging strategies, meeting schedule priorities, resolving conflicts in work executive and schedule priorities with project managers. You will coordinate inside shop work required for projects. You will manage the work certification function and execution of work packaging function. You will represent the Nuclear Work Packaging and Control (WPC) Manager at various project meetings and briefings. You will act for the WPC Manager during absences and may function as WPC Manager for short-term projects of lesser complexity.

• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience of nuclear applying comprehensive knowledge of nuclear production methods, technical procedures, funding, materials and equipment for ship maintenance, repair, and overhaul of complex Navy vessels. Experience with primary and secondary reactor plant systems, Nuclear Power Manual (NPM) chapters, Technical Work Documents (TWDs), and radiological control procedures applicable to nuclear ship maintenance and repair. Experience utilizing Advanced Industrial Management (AIM) processes, and knowledge of project computer applications. Experience utilizing the Work Package Control (WPC) module of Advance Industrial Management to resolve discrepancies. Experience utilizing the Nuclear WPC of Advance Industrial Management to implement corrective actions.
