The incumbent serves as principal advisor for maintenance policy and sustainment policies and procedures of major weapon systems and combat support equipment; integrates maintenance, sustainment and software policy aspects across the ASD Sustainment staff; evaluates and influences resource allocation decisions; enhances maintenance and sustainment policies and procedures; provides maintenance policy and sustainment oversight; and initiates focused studies.

Duties

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: The incumbent serves as principal advisor for maintenance, sustainment and software policies and procedures of major weapon systems and combat support equipment. Integrates maintenance, sustainment and software aspects across the ASD Sustainment staff. Evaluates and influences resource allocation decisions; enhances maintenance and sustainment policies and procedures. Provides maintenance, sustainment and software policy oversight; and initiates focused studies. Serves as an advisor for sustainment strategic planning; Organic Industrial Base (OIB) policies, analyses; maintenance of materiel management; Depot Source of Repair and Readiness-based materiel. Serves as a subject matter expert for developing, coordinating, implementing and maintaining maintenance related plans and policies for the major weapons systems (to include all aspects of software maintenance) and combat support equipment across the Department of Defense. Develops policy and objectives, and performs analysis of DoD weapon systems and military equipment availability, reliability, repair cycle-time and continuous process improvement goals for technologies, investments and employment to maintain achieve required availability, performance, reliability and safety. Develops criteria, coordinates, and performs technical analysis involved in process excellence and responsiveness throughout the end-to-end value chain of military materiel at various echelons. This includes such disciplines as acquisition, maintenance production and operations, and all critical processes of supply chain operations.

Read more about what should I include in my federal resume? at https://www.usajobs.gov/Help/faq/application/documents/resume/what-to-include/ You may qualify at the NH-04 (GS-14/15) level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-03 (GS-13) grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to: Analyzes, develops, prepares, coordinates, and implements life cycle logistics policies, procedures, programs, and directives to enable readiness and effective, affordable sustainment. Applies Integrated Product Support Elements and Life Cycle Sustainment planning and execution to develop Life Cycle Sustainment Strategies and Plans. Utilizes Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) or similar process, including the Program Objective Memorandum (POM) cycle, and the use of RDT&E, Procurement, and O&M funds to support a maintenance and sustainment program. Familiarity with such materiel readiness process enablers such as: Performance Based Logistics Strategies and Concepts; Business Case Analysis (BCA); Condition Based Maintenance+ (CBM+). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualifications requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.
