You will serve as a DENTAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN in the Prosthodontics Lab Department of NAV POSTGRADUATE DENTAL SCHOOL.
Duties
You will serve as the fixed prosthodontics technical expert, technician and instructor.
You will instruct and train an average of 15 military Dental Technicians annually in the fabrication of fixed prostheses.
You will design and present highly technical, advanced dental laboratory technique courses to technicians and prosthodontic resident dental officers.
You will provide on-the-job formal training in oral dental anatomy as it applies to dental laboratory technology.
You will design and fabricate complex fixed and removable prostheses (including implant prostheses) with both traditional and Computer-Aided-Design (CAD)/Computer-Aided-Manufacturing (CAM) methods.
You will serve as technical consultant to the NPDS staff and residents in the design of complex fixed prosthodontic cases, either with analog models or with CAD.
You will plan and organize work schedule and production deadlines for he Fixed Prosthodontics Section.
You will be responsible for the operation and care of the laboratory porcelain ovens, vacuum investing equipment, burnout ovens, centrifugal metal casting machines, CAD computers, etc, and related fixed Prosthodontic lab equipment.

- You will be required to receive the Heptavax series of immunizations, and to take annual hearing/eye examinations and other physical examinations as directed.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Must be a Certified Dental Technician in Fixed Prosthetics.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience navigating Computer-Aided-Design (CAD)/Computer-Aided (additive and subtractive) Manufacturing (CAM) technologies including but not limited to sirona/exocad/exoplan/bluesky bio/hyperdent);
Experience instructing and training dental technicians in the fabrication of fixed prostheses;
Experience designing and fabricating simple and complex fixed and removable prostheses (including implant prostheses) with both traditional and CAD/CAM methods;
Experience casting all dental alloys by using electrical or oxygen/natural gas procedures; and
Experience operating and caring of laboratory porcelain ovens, vacuum investing equipment, burnout ovens, centrifugal metal casting machines, CAD computers, 5-axis mills, resin printers, and related fixed Prosthodontic laboratory equipment.
This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: Certified Dental Technician in Fixed Prosthetics. MUST submit copy of CDT in Fixed Prosthetics certificate.
