National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) is seeking Supervisory Administrative Officers. Duties
Supervises and leads staff on work assignments and special projects. Plans, assigns, and reviews the work of subordinates; provides technical guidance as needed; evaluates performance; and recommends personnel actions.
Evaluates administrative programs. Applies qualitative and quantitative methods and techniques, identifies problem areas, and develops recommendations for change.
Responsible for the planning, development, and management of administrative programs that support the research and programmatic initiatives.
Assesses program effectiveness or the improvement of complex program and management processes and systems encompassing difficult and diverse functions or issues that affect critical aspects of the major programs.
Serves as an expert on administrative policies and requirements. As a leader, coordinates the establishment of goals, objectives, and long-range plans for the office.
Ensures that funding and resources for research and programmatic programs are available and readily reached.
Serves as primary liaison working with the AO supervisors to the human resources office.
Develops and evaluates proposals, coordinates, and oversees implementation activities; and interprets NIH, Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), and Federal policies and practices to implement at the division.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.

Qualifications
You qualify at the GS-14 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Developing and implementing administrative policies and procedures for an organization; Evaluating and monitoring administrative activities and makes substantive recommendations for program improvements; Providing expert advice and technical assistance to managers and supervisors in a wide variety of areas such as human resources, budget and execution, policies and procedures and conflict resolution.
