About the Position: Serves as the Deputy Chief in New Orleans District Real Estate Division. The major responsibilities include planning, directing and coordinating the real estate program for the district. In addition, supervisory responsibilities include working closely with subordinates to assign work based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
Duties
Providing comprehensive real estate support for an office including acquisition by purchase, lease, or condemnation to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
Negotiating contracts involving roads, railroads, cemeteries, or utility lines to ensure the organization’s interests are represented.
Making recommendations on the changes to real estate program objectives to correct identified problems that have an adverse impact on the organization.
Directing office workforce engaged in planning, appraising, budgeting, mapping, acquiring, managing, or disposal of land to ensure real estate program objectives are met.
Developing plans for the organization’s real estate program efforts to resolve issues that require long-term comprehensive planning.
Overseeing the work of subordinate supervisors to ensure they are effectively managing their assigned real estate programs.
Maintaining cooperative relationships with higher headquarters, agencies, or political entities to ensure organization’s interests are represented.
Requirements

- This position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position requires a one-year supervisory probationary period to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties.
- This position requires a Financial Disclosure Statement OGE Form 450.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain a valid Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- The position requires a Level II Real Estate Contracting Officer (RECO) within two years of selection.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Advising senior leadership (GS-15/COL and above) at higher headquarters with technical advice and guidance on Real Estate matters; 2) Researching, interpreting and directing the implementation of Federal statues, regulations, policy and directives, and procedures affecting assigned functions; 3) Overseeing acquisition, management and disposal, appraisal, and internal planning and control functions; AND 4) Performing supervisory duties such as overseeing work activities, hiring, performance management, development and mentoring of workforce. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
