This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position will serve as a Northwest Division (NWD) wide expert in Architectural design and as a Seattle District senior specialist and leader in Architectural design.
Duties
Serve as an architectural design expert for NWD-wide projects.
Serve as an independent technical reviewer providing second level review of in-house designs prepared by Corps Districts other than Seattle.
Serve as a District architectural design expert, to include leading the project architectural team assigned to the Section.
Provide authoritative architectural design advice and guidance to key staff within the District, to Installation Engineers, and to key operating officials in other agencies.
Lead section members on assigned projects by identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow, skill level and/or occupational specialization.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing in-house design solutions for building types larger than residential construction to include incorporating end-user requirements, sustainable design, and Department of Defense design criteria. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: This position requires that you possess a current registration as a professional architect (Registered Architect/RA).
