About the Position: Serve as the Media Relations Officer for the U.S. Army Garrison Public Affairs Office, Installation Management Command, at Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia, home of the Army's Sustainment Center of Excellence.
Duties
Formulate comprehensive communications plans tailored to a specific audience.
Create/Use multimedia products for digital publication using desktop publishing and audio/video production equipment and such as; desktop studio, publishing; production software
Monitor social media to engage a variety of audiences.
Maintain effective working relationship with community leaders, members of the media, legislative officials and civic groups to promote an understanding of the installation’s mission.
Perform work related to public affairs activities such as analyzing the media environment, responding to media queries, coordinating interviews and/or event coverage.
Plan special events such as ceremonies, town halls, civic leader meetings, post tours; newcomer briefings.
Develop briefing materials for presentations to a variety of audiences.
Advise the Director of Public Affairs on important developments in media activity related to the organization.
Develop textual content designed to reach audiences through commercial news media, such as wire services; web-based and/or printed publications; radio/television broadcasts.
Write news and feature stories for internal and external publications.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes one year of specialized experience which includes experience writing and disseminating mass media products through print, social media, web-based, and broadcast media platforms to communicate activities; programs and events conducted or sponsored by the agency. Organizing and coordinating print and broadcast media interviews, and establishing and maintaining relationships with local groups and community leaders.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
