Duties
Perform routine, complex assignments by operating highly coordinated equipment to make specialized ultrasonic and radiologic examinations for diagnosis and treatment
Select and set technical factors, set up and adjust accessory equipment and generates the images necessary for the requested study.
Provide ultrasonic studies for diagnosis and treatment of patients for staging and follow up exams
Determine time gain compensation factors and power levels.
Utilize a pediatric sonography including methods of handling children by using special equipment in order to obtain satisfactory sonograms.
Assist radiologist with assorted ultrasound interventional procedures such as biopsies and cyst aspirations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 2 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- Applicants must be able to fulfill non-privileged professional credential requirements.
- This position may include shift work (evenings, weekends, holidays).
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 44 pounds is required.

Basic Requirements:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience includes providing specialized ultra-sonography scans for diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of diseases.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Sonography or Radiology.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: I have the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have at least one year of graduate education as described in B, but less than the required two years. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
