THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION This National Guard position is for an ELECTRONICS MECHANIC, Position Description Number D0877000 and is part of the KS AASF 2, Army National Guard.

Duties

As an ELECTRONICS MECHANIC, WG-2604-08, you will work either as a team member or individually under the direction of a higher-grade employee. Perform routine and repetitive electronics work involved in the installation, modification, overhaul, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic equipment ranging from equipment of limited complexity such as subassemblies, printed circuit cards and chassis to complete electronics systems. Independently operates automatic test equipment, which has been programmed to a type of chassis or printed circuit board to locate and repair defective parts. Follow detailed schematics, layout diagrams, and work instructions to locate and repair malfunctions in defective circuit cards or chassis, such as audio frequency (AF) or radio frequency (RF) amplifiers, power supplies, oscillators or other assemblies which are of limited design and functional complexity. Uses standard hand tools and a variety of test equipment such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, signal/pulse generators, oscilloscopes, frequency counters, power supplies and a variety of test sets to locate and diagnose defective parts. Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: This position works on a 4/10's compressed work schedule with four 10-hour days, Tuesday-Friday each week of the pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.

Requirements

  • Kansas Army National Guard Membership is required.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position within one year of appointment.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E-4 through E-5 Compatible Military Assignments: 15N GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have general experience with the fabrication, installation, modification, overhaul, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic equipment ranging from equipment of limited complexity such as subassemblies, printed circuit cards, and chassis to complete electronics systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have a practical knowledge of electrical and electronic theory, how to locate and repair malfunctions and test completed work and the knowledge of construction practices of electronic equipment in order to recognize types and sizes of resistors, capacitors, wiring, and transistors; and follow signal paths through simple printed circuit and wired circuitry, recognizing actual circuit configurations which are shown in schematics and diagrams.
