THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION THAT REQUIRES MILITARY MEMBERSHIP. This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONICS MECHANIC, Position Description Number D1205000 and is part of the MS National Guard. This position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4), Surface Maintenance Facility.

Duties

As a ELECTRONICS MECHANIC, WG-2604-11, you will perform field and limited sustainment maintenance and repair on a variety of complex electronics equipment and complete operational systems. Performs functional tests, analyzes performance and malfunctions, removes, installs, tests, maintains, modifies, performs alignments and troubleshoots the electronic, electrical, mechanical and hydraulic assemblies, modules, and interconnecting cables of a variety of combat and tactical equipment. Utilizes Integrated Family Test Equipment (IFTE), Built In Test Equipment (BITE) and break out boxes (BOB) for fault isolation, verification, or adjustment of assemblies and modules. Repairs or replaces chassis mounted components on Unit Under Test (UUT). Troubleshoots and repairs launch pod/container (LP/C), trainer rocket simulator modules, Missiles/Launchers Pod Assembly (M/LPA), trainer missile simulator modules, and various like items. Troubleshoots carrier electrical and power distributions systems as an integrated subsystem of the weapon system or equipment being repaired. Isolates faulty assemblies, cables, wiring harnesses and modules to component level for repair or replacement. IInstalls equipment modifications to system per technical work orders. Performs field and limited sustainment maintenance to include installation, routine maintenance, repair, and overhaul of fixed and mobile operational communication and electronics systems. Repairs or salvages defective components. Isolates and diagnoses cause of circuit/component malfunction using signal string lists, schematics, standard, special, and electronic Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) or repair equipment. Uses associated field maintenance equipment in analytical maintenance procedures. Interprets complex schematic diagrams. Must exercise a high degree of judgment regarding methods and procedures for completing assignments, which may involve extending the use of conventional tools and equipment and improving changes to techniques, and procedures to reach specified parameters when factors such as temperature extremes, aging of equipment, or modification of circuits have changed operating conditions. Installs and applies equipment modifications when directed. Performs other duties as assigned.

This is an indefinite position, tenure 3, with a time limit determined by the needs of the agency. Any permanent military technician who is selected for this position will become tenure 3. The selectee will receive the same benefits and entitlements as the tenure 1 employee, but will be considered tenure 3 for purposes of reduction in force. You can be terminated at any time with a 30-day notice. If a permanent resource becomes available, incumbent may be converted to a permanent appointment without competition. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement. MILITARY MEMBERS WITH BONUSES: Upon acceptance of a military technician position military members who are currently receiving a military Reenlistment/Extension Bonus (REB) or GI Bill-SR Kicker may lose incentive eligibility and may be subject to termination or suspension of incentive (includes indefinite and temporary technicians on assignment for more than 180 days in any continuous 12-month period). GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess and document in detail at least 18 months of experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems. Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment. Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc. Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications. NOTES TO CANDIDATES: a. Situations of inversion of military rank are not permitted, i.e., a military technician may not be militarily senior to his or her full-time supervisor. b. Candidates may be screened and evaluated on military attributes directly related to the compatible military position required to be assigned into, such as, but not limited to, military bearing, leadership, or ability to work with others (teamwork) in a military environment. c. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). d. Final selection will be based upon qualifications, suitability, and available manpower resources. e. This employer will provide the Social Security Administration (SSA) and if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization. f.
