You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SECURITY SPECIALIST in the Security Department of the Director for Administration, Code M09Bl of BUREAU OF MEDICINE AND SURGERY.
Duties
You will review and evaluate personnel security investigations and reports to determine if applicant meets security standards.
You will be responsible for operation of the Telecommunication Message Center; working with telecommunications and computer specialists to identify problems within operating systems and adjusts priorities depending on message traffic load.
You will be responsible for direct/associate supervision of two Security specialists/analysts (GS-11 and GS-09), one Security Assistant and military personnel when assigned.
You will serve as Command Security Manager providing guidance on technical matters for safeguarding and controlling classified material and equipment
You will interview applicants concerning allegations of a derogative nature; make recommendations in regard to granting, suspension or revocation of security clearances.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience ensuring personnel with required access to classified information or assigned sensitive duties are appropriately cleared.
Experience directing methods for enhancing efficiency of security systems/methods through modifications and applications of evolving technology.
Experience reviewing and maintaining requests for personnel security investigations and managing the personnel security program for newly reporting and detaching personnel.
Experience with receiving, taking custody of, accounting and distributing Top Secret material.
Experience serving as a Command Security Manager, liaising between agencies relating to Antiterrorism/Force Protection and physical security.
