About the Position: Position is for the Full Deputy to the Operations Project Manager, Chief, Mississippi River Project, and may be filled under any of the following occupational series, depending on the qualifications of the applicant and needs of the agency: Supervisory Biologist 0401 Supervisory General Engineer 0801 Supervisory Architect 0808 Supervisory Civil Engineer 0810 Supervisory Environmental Engineer 0819 Supervisory Mechanical Engineer 0830 Supervisory Electrical Engineer 0850

Duties

As the Deputy, oversee the Mississippi River Project assigned portion of the Operations Division, operations and maintenance program involving navigation, natural resource management and recreational functions and activities. Perform supervisory and related managerial duties to direct Mississippi River Project operations. Coordinate with other projects/districts/divisions on matters concerning operations, maintenance and repairs. Manage natural resource and recreation activities for the Mississippi River Project

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.
  • Required to travel on public roads and highways in all kinds of weather.
  • One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.

Minimum Qualifications-Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: executing the full range of human resources, including performance management, and fiscal responsibilities, involving the management and administration of navigation, maintenance, and/or natural resources management activities; AND/OR directing assignments related to operation and normal maintenance of navigational or waterway facilities; major maintenance for lock and dam facilities and channels; and/or on-site administration and management of recreational and natural resources. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-12. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Facilities Operations ManagementLeadershipMaintenance Planning and ManagementNatural Resource Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
