This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Perform constant surveillance of a facility or designated area in a facility that has an impaired fire protection system. Alert occupants of the need to evacuate the facility in the event an emergency. Patrol a predesignated areas observing compliance with PPE requirements (i.e., safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes) Assure fire extinguishers are in place and perform visual inspection to verify they are in serviceable operating condition. Ensure means of egress are free of obstructions that would impede egress. Identify transient safety hazards Write complete and accurate summary of findings. Recommend changes and additions to fire watch duties to ensure compliance with fire prevention and protection requirements.

  • This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid U.S. Drivers License.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain Government Motor Vehicle Operators License.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes identifying, preventing, or eliminating safety hazards in work methods or environmental conditions or safety training or promotion. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of subjects such as safety, fire prevention, industrial hygiene, or other directly related subjects. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
