About the Position: Performs a variety of administrative and clerical duties in support of personnel management, in-processing of Department of Army permit applications, correspondence, purchasing, Government Purchase Card (GPC) holder processing, preparing training requests, and administration, time and attendance within Corps of Engineers.
Duties
Prepare requests for personnel actions.
Serves as primary timekeeper, maintaining accurate time keeping records.
Draft routine memo’s, letters, and documents.
Train new branch secretaries and supervisors on the use of personnel systems.
Oversee the preparation of the Branch’s awards program.
Oversee the branch purchasing/procurement of goods, supplies, and services.
Serves as the Branch Government Purchase Card Holder.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position may require some travel, up to 10% of the time.
- This position may require completion of a one year probationary period.

Specialized Experience GS-7: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Using office automation software such as Microsoft word, Excel, in order to produce documents for reports and spreadsheets; AND 2) Preparing correspondence with items such as proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position (i.e., Business Management/Administration, personnel Management, or other directly related fields of study). (You must provide transcripts).
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Time in Grade Requirement for GS-7:Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-6).
Specialized Experience GS-8: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Preparing travel orders; AND 2) Coordinating calendars and schedules; AND 3) Using office automation software such as Microsoft word, Excel, in order to produce documents for reports and spreadsheets. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position (i.e., Business Management/Administration, Personnel Management, or other directly related fields of study).
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond one year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.
