Duties
As a HR Assistant you will:
Assist HR specialists, supervisory officials, and action officers by performing technical and administrative work in support of position classification programs and functions.
Locate, review, retrieve, and summarize information from classification standards and position descriptions; prepare standard justifications and recommendations regarding classification of lower-grade positions; assist in the preparation of desk audits; finalize position classification actions by completing position cover sheets and automated systems actions; maintain master position description files and competitive level records; provide a variety of general information regarding position classification functions and processes.
Assist Human Resources specialists, supervisory officials, and action officers by performing technical and administrative work in support of recruitment and placement programs including merit promotion and delegated examining functions.
Develop and issue vacancy announcements; screen applications to determine completeness and basic eligibility; prepare certificates of qualified candidates; generate receipt acknowledgements and final action responses; perform qualifications analysis and rating on lower grade positions as assigned; conduct and/or assist in the conduct of rating panels; code and process personnel actions; prepare pre-appointment packages; in-processing employees; and provide a variety of general information regarding recruitment program functions, processes, and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-07 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level, which must include the following experience with coding/processing actions; using HR automated systems; and advising on a variety of compensation issues (e.g., pay setting, special salary rates, highest previous rate).
OR
Have 1 full year of graduate level education with a major study in a subject area directly related to the work of the position.
OR
Have a combination of specialized experience and graduate education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
College or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools which meet these criteria, please refer to
