Position is within the Air Traffic Organization, Technical Operations, and reports to the Washington District, System Support Center. Incumbent serves as a Maintenance Mechanic that accomplishes routine and emergency repair, evaluation, and installation of buildings and structures, facilities, and grounds maintenance. Incumbent has working knowledge in at least one of the areas of carpentry, electrical, mechanical, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), or plumbing trades.
Duties
The principal workload responsibility of this position is inspection, maintenance, repair, servicing, modification, adjustment, and calibration of the following electrical and mechanical systems associated with assigned aids to air navigation: (1)engine-driven standby power generation equipment, (2)electrical systems, (3)air-conditioning, heating, and ventilation systems, and (4) communications and control cables; and all other physical plant and structures workload such as: (1) antenna towers and poles, (2)buildings and structures, (3)roads and grounds, and (4) utilities (sewerage and water).
Requirements
- US Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
Qualifications
To qualify, no specific length of experience or training is required. However, you must show evidence of experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of a Maintenance Mechanic. The position requires knowledge, skill and abilities in various trades of work such as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, welding/metal fabrication, painting and general knowledge of electronics and equipment.
