This position is located within Environmental Management Services (EMS) of the St. Cloud Veterans Affairs (VA)Medical Center.
Incumbent serves as a work leader for a crew of four to eight Housekeeping Aids/EVS Techs. Incumbent provides leadership and direction to the employees for which he/she is responsible to accomplish the full range of responsibilities assigned. In addition to work leader responsibilities, incumbent wil1 perform housekeeping duties
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Performs housekeeping duties to include cleaning of corridors, lobbies, offices, bathrooms, stairways, clinics, waiting rooms, etc.
Operates heavy duty, technical equipment such as battery operated, self-propelled floor scrubbers, self-propelled vacuum sweeper, hot water/steam extraction carpet cleaning machines, etc.
Maintains all horizontal and vertical surfaces throughout the Medical Center at a high appearance and sanitation level.
Ensures that all floor, wall, and ceiling surfaces are cleaned properly with the proper product to provide the maximum results without damage to the surface.
Monitors the work of Housekeeping Aides while work is in progress to observe that proper work methods, procedures, and safety practices are being followed.
Provides coordination for requested chair set-ups/take-downs, and other possible special assignments within the scope of EMS.
Occasionally operates vehicles (approximately 4% of time or less on a periodic basis) with approximate gross vehicle weight up to 10,000 pounds.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm OR 4:30p, to 1:00am, and every 4th Weekend & Holiday

Physical Requirements: You will be asked to participate in a pre-employment examination or evaluation as part of the pre-employment process for this position. Questions about physical demands or environmental factors may be addressed at the time of evaluation or examination.
Physical Expectations: Incumbent must have the physical capability to remain in his/her feet for long periods of time. He/She must be able to stoop, bend, push, pull, reach, and exercise normal body movements to perform cleaning duties. He/She must have the visual acuity to see dirt, cobwebs. etc. to perform the duties of the position. Incumbent must have the physical strength to operate and control the various types of industrial equipment used in housekeeping activity.
Working Conditions: Incumbent usually works indoors in a well-heated, well-lighted, and well-ventilated building. He/She is exposed to dirt, bacteria, disagreeable odors, and may be subjected to contagious diseases associated with hospital settings. He/She is exposed to possibility of cuts and bruises from carts and machinery. Incumbent is exposed to skin irritations from cleaning solutions in concentrated form used in the housekeeping activity. He/She is exposed to vibration and noise from equipment used when performing cleaning tasks. Incumbent may, on occasion, be subjected to inclement weather conditions when removing trash from the buildings or performing other duties that may take him/her outside of a building.
