About the Position: This position serves as the Administrative Assistant in the Civilian Services Human Resources Directorate. This position is located at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. Redstone Arsenal is co-located with Huntsville, Alabama a culturally diverse city.
Duties
Serve as the Director's advisor on office administrative and clerical support functions.
Maintain information of the organizational structure, key personnel, current activities, status of current projects, and issues of the organization.
Perform a variety of administrative, technical and support tasks auxiliary to the work of the supervisor and the organization's staff.
Incumbent is responsible for tracking personnel, supply, procurement, and other administrative transactions as the communications and documentation flow through the Director's Office.
Compose correspondence to higher echelons, affiliated and non-affiliated agencies, business associates, and personal acquaintances.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a State Driver’s License.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Postal Service Mail Handler’s Certificate.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing administrative support services to personnel by establishing office procedures for administrative programs such as mail; preparing, formatting, and proofreading correspondence in accordance with regulation and established writing standards; maintaining calendar of events and suspense files; and executing the command honorary awards program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
