Duties

You will be responsible for providing logistics, operations management and technical Fleet Ordnance Support (FOS) for Safety Programs. You will serve as the liaison with Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Host Installation, and Region safety offices ensuring safety program practices and policies are communicated, managed and compliant. You will maintain statistical data and trend analysis to recommend corrective action plans and maintain metrics. You will provide training and technical advice utilizing Risk Management Information (RMI) to ensure mishap investigations and root-cause analysis information is accurately entered and corrective actions initiated. You will Initiate program reviews, develop and implement the principles of the Fleet Safety Management System (SMS), Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) policy, and FOS operations. You will be responsible for ensuring regulations, procedures, and management practices are compliant through coordinating self assessments, evaluations, reviews, or inspections of programs. You will analyze program policies, regulations, directives, and procedures for impact on the mission. You will provide written reports identifying process/procedural problems, corrective actions to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the program.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector analyzing and evaluating operational functions to identify process and procedural issues and ensuring compliance of policies and regulations for Safety Programs. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree;

or

LL.M., if related to the position

or

A combination of experience and education as described above that equals 100 percent.
